Ahhh Spring break!

Finally, it's here!!!

Spring break, that is!

Some things I am planning on doing this coming week/weekends (and some I NEED to do...)
  • Finishing up my continuing ed. class  (gotta get that done to renew my teaching license that expires this June... nothing like waiting till the last minute)
  • Sleeping in.  At least one or two days :)
  • Kid-sitting.  Three days next week I'm watching two of the kids I watch in the summertime on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.  It'll be good to see them again!  (annnnd making a little extra cash doesn't hurt!)
  • Going with my sister in law and mother in law to get my newest niece Madalaine's newborn pics done and all three girls are getting their Easter pics.  Fun times :)
  • Next Tuesday (the 3rd) Brew is taking the day off cause we both have doctor's appointments  (with different docs--- more on those later ;)).  So we plan on spending the whole day together running around :)  Then probably doing my birthday dinner that evening with my family.
  • Then Wednesday (the 4th) is my birthday!  I'm going to spend most of the day with my friend Whitney (who now lives an hour away- boo).  I haven't seen her since last summer.  Insane!  So we plan on going to lunch and doing some shopping :)
  • Easter dinners with my family and my inlaws  :)
  • I also am hoping to tackle a few things on my gigantuous "Spring To-Do List".

But first?  Tonight I plan on sitting on my butt and doing a whole lot of nothing!  Definitely a pizza night! :)

Showers at night

So any of you that know me in "real life" already know I am NOT a morning person.  No matter how hard I might try to make myself be one- I am not.  Left to my own devices, I'd probably stay up till 11 or 12 at night and then sleep until 8 or 9.  Then I'd spend an hour or so just lounging in PJs and eating breakfast.  By 10 or 11 I might actually get ready for the day.  Unfortunately, I'm a grown up and have that thing called a job.  And a husband that works as well, and two dogs.  Soooo I can't do what I'd like to do.

My dogs usually wake me up between 6 and 6:30 to go out to pee & eat their breakfast.  They think they are starving to death or something.  Now you would think, being that I have to be at work at 8 that I would just stay up after letting them out, and have plenty of time to get ready and out the door in time.  But for whatever reason I CANNOT resist the temptation to crawl back in bed after taking care of the dogs and squeeze out as much sleep as I can until my husband's alarm goes off at 7.  This also happened before dogs, when I'd try things such as setting my alarm across the room so I'd have to physically get up to turn it off (no problem- turn off, go back to bed).  I've also tried setting my alarm even a half an hour early (hey, just hit the snooze 3 more times...) and actually changing the time on my alarm clock so it's a few minutes fast (remarkably, though I can't remember where I put my keys most of the time, I never have trouble remembering exactly HOW many minutes fast it is).  So yeah you get the point.  It's hard for me to get up and moving in the morning.  And you might as well forget hair/makeup being done and an actual breakfast (not a granola bar on the go) being eaten if I have to be anywhere before 10am.

Since I don't usually get up until 7 when I have to be at work at 8 (which for me means leaving at 7:30) that does NOT leave enough time for me to shower, get dressed, blow dry & straighten my hair, do my makeup, pack my lunch, brush my teeth, grab a breakfast to go, and get out the door in time.  What I usually  always ended up doing instead was taking super fast showers, get dressed, brush my hair and put it in a ponytail/bun (still wet mind you), packing my lunch, brushing my teeth, then racing out the door (a lot of the time forgetting something).

So I decided to start taking my showers at night.  And it's actually made a huge difference.  I guess I never really thought of it before- since I'd pretty much been taking showers in the morning since I was in 6th grade.  But not having to shower cuts out at least 10 minutes of time.  So I can usually safely sleep until 7, get up, wash my face, get dressed, do my hair (I can let it air dry the night before and then in the morning I usually have a bedhead-- but nothing a flat iron won't fix-- and if I don't feel like doing it there's always the trusty ponytail-- and this time at least my hair isn't wet!), and go about my morning routine without being rushed and get out the door all in about 30 minutes.  Oh and there's also that added benefit of not trying to beat my husband to the shower in the morning (we only have one), since he still showers in the morning!

So yeah, if you are like me and can't get yourself moving in the morning- try showering at night, it saves a lot of time!

Now if only I could get myself up in time to actually eat a bowl of cereal or something instead of grabbing something to go.... oh well... baby steps right?
